Where To Buy Kids Watches BEST

Many kids instinctively know how to operate a smartwatch, swiping to navigate the touchscreen. But these watches can be large and bulky for a small wrist, which is one reason kids may not like wearing one. The kids smartwatch makers we spoke with said their target audience is children ages 5 to 10, which is reflected in the more childish graphics, art, and design in the watches; the expectation is that tweens and teens, kids ages 10 and up, will beg to use a smartphone.

where to buy kids watches

If your kids have grown up like mine, not knowing anything except a touchscreen, on a basic flip phone they will likely have to learn how to text the old-fashioned way (that is, holding down the numbered keypad buttons to select each letter), make a phone call, and generally navigate the controls.

Because the GizmoWatch 2 is sold through Verizon, it requires little effort to set up. This also means that customer support is more readily available than for other smartwatches, though our experience was sometimes frustrating.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: The TickTalk 4 is enclosed in a thick, rubbery, water-resistant case. Although this covering protects the watch from drops, scrapes, broken screens, and water damage, it makes the watch feel big and bulky. My kids rarely wanted to wear the watch and often chose to stick it in their pocket instead.

Potential for distraction: Without many apps, group texting, or access to the internet, basic flip phones avoid most of the distractions that smartphones and smartwatches present. But both the SmartFlip and the Go Flip 3 come preloaded with Google Assistant, so your child has access to YouTube, which cannot be removed (though the screen is small with poor resolution). There is also no way to block or filter YouTube videos.

Going by our conversations with parents and kids, we considered the following features and capabilities during our search for the best kids smartwatches, smartphones, flip phones, and other communication devices:

Communication: Parents and kids must be able to easily convey basic information in real time, such as the location where a child needs to be picked up. The most efficient way is often through a voice call, although text messages and video calls are also effective.

Designate gadget-free times or gadget-free zones. Experts recommend banning device use at certain times of the day, such as during dinner, and, if possible, creating spaces where cell phone use is discouraged, such as in the bedrooms and in the car. Curb device use at night, when kids need sleep. Most important, parents, as role models, should follow this guideline, too.

We have not yet tested the Xplora X5 Play, a kids smartwatch that was first available in Europe and is now available in the United States. Like the TickTalk 4, it is not tied to a specific carrier, so you need to purchase and install a SIM card on your own.

We did not look at any smartwatches or feature phones that rely on a 2G network. We also did not consider the new iPod touch or any kids smartwatches made by Fitbit (for activity and fitness tracking), Garmin (for activity and fitness tracking), or VTech (for picture and video taking). Likewise, we did not consider tracking devices such as the Jiobit Smart Tag, Tile, or Apple AirTag because they too lack a way to communicate. We also decided not to test the AngelSense, which is designed for kids with special needs.

Kids between the ages of 5 and 11 and those in the pre-smartphone phase. The SyncUP Kids Watch provides kids and parents with many of the safety benefits of a smartphone without the digital safety risks and concerns that are associated with providing a smartphone to a child who may not be ready.

We constantly work to improve the sustainability of our production processes. Our watches are all produced in Italy and we like to replace conventional materials with more sustainable ones that have a lower impact on both nature and human health.

When you wear a watch, you know the main purpose is to have a device on your arm that tells time. Given that you can now tell the time from your phone or other gadgets, why would your kids want to wear a watch?

Teach your kids that the best watches are more than just an accessory to keep you from being late to appointments. Watches showcase your style and accessorize your daily wear. For many people, they are much more than a timepiece; they are an accessory to enjoy.

The safest kids smartwatch phone for ages 5-12. With no internet, games, or social media, TickTalk 4 has all the positives of a cell phone to keep your family connected without sacrificing peace of mind.

We believe the tech products our children use should protect them, not exploit them. Certified by an FTC-approved Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Safe Harbor program, we give your family the safest kids smartwatch with industry-leading standards to safeguard your child's private information.

The TickTalk 4 watch is the most high tech watch phone I've found for kids. It definitely gives me more peace of mind when my kids aren't physically with me. It has a lot of safety features like a GPS locator, drop in "Super Hearing", and firewalls. I love that it's the only watch phone I've found that I can video call them and see everything around them. It looks really nice, not too childish for my older kids (8 & 10) so they don't mind wearing it. My youngest really likes to listen to the new iHeart music option on this new version.

We ordered 2 of these for each of our kids as they aren't old enough to have phones with them at all times. This method is actually very helpful and ensures a device is kept on them whenever they go out. They both like to play around the neighborhood with their friends and having a way to keep track and communicate immediately with them gives us a sense of peace of mind. They also enjoy texting us updates as well as video calls. We recommend this product to anyone who has children!

My kid's at the age where we want to keep tabs, but not ready to give a cellphone out. Just the idea that I can connect if I'm running late to pick her up from school is a huge plus. We also love the location tracking, and the firewall where we can keep out telemarketers. 4G is working great! The TickTalk is a worthwhile purchase, yet, but I am genuinely surprised about how well thought out this product is! It's like they asked those that had the original two TickTalk models for suggestions, then put all the suggestions into the TickTalk!

We love this watch! So far we are one week in and we love this watch. We love that parents made this and it is the exact watch I would have made myself for my kids. Buy this on, forget all the junk and cheap watches, this works right out of the box with simple to follow instructions. Thank you TickTalk!

Amazing device. It's what any kid and teen would want and is all they need until they mature. If you care about safety and your young ones brain development. Purchasing this product should be a no-brainer. Do not waste time with other similar products with similar claims, they cannot compete or compare in anyway to this watches performance.

Being able to locate your child when they're away from home will bring you peace of mind and help keep them safe.

Apple Watch for kids is something parents are embracing more and more. The New York Times ran a story in September 2022 about Apple Watch adoption among children as young as five. Parents are finding the Apple Watch more appropriate for kids wanting smartphones. The Apple Watch gives kids a way to stay in touch with parents, share location, and build responsibility without the full cost and risk of a smartphone.

From age of 6 many children would start learning about time and they need to wear a watch to do so. Watches for adult men or women do not fit on a kid's wrist. The next best solution is to use one of the watches specifically made for the juniors. 041b061a72
